In honor of the first day that we saw snowflakes coming down, we had a snowball fight. No it did not snow enough to make snowballs. It wasn't even enough to show on the ground. Our 'snowballs' were actually bath loofahs. We had a blast trying to get our friends with the 'snowballs'! Watch out for incoming snowballs!

Veterans' Day - Butterfly Tree
As part of our Veterans' Day celebration, our class participated in a national project called The Butterfly Tree. It honors each of the U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Butterfly Tree is made by kids from all across America. Every red, white, and blue foam butterfly will have the name, rank and age of a soldier who has died placed on the back. The butterflies are attached to the display tree. The motto of the butterfly tree project is "The life of a butterfly is short but it's impact on the world cannot be measured". The life of a soldier is the same. Thank you to all of our Veterans!

Fall - Outside
Last week, we went outside and enjoyed the last of the nice Fall weather before we got stuck being inside. Since then, it has gotten COLD and wet. YUCK! We played with leaves (from the few trees near school) and just had fun playing with each other (and our long shadows!).

Harvest Festival
Last week was our Harvest Festival Celebration. We wore our pajamas to school. Miss Walker did a pumpkin scavenger hunt with us that led all over our school. At the end, we found our owl treat bags. We got to "Journey Back in Time" to the pioneer days. We played with pioneer toys, made necklaces, shaved like pioneer men, worked with dough like pioneer women, panned for gold, cleaned wool, and washed clothes and wrung them out. It was hard work to be a pioneer! To finish up our Harvest Festival, we explored and carved pumpkins. Some of us did not like the feel of the inside of the pumpkin, so we just pretended! What a busy day!
